How Often Should You Get Your Car Detailed?

Updated: Jul 1, 2023

Your car is a major investment. Some owners may not realize or think about this, but if you step back and actually look at what your vehicle cost. There is a good chance that your car purchase may be one of your biggest purchases. So why not maintain your investment. I’m sure most, if not all of you reading this conduct regular oil changes to make sure your engine continues to run properly. So why not do the same for the exterior and interior of your car to maintain and retain its value.

Generally, the recommendation is to wash your car every two weeks. Notice how I said wash, not detail. Wash and Detail are actually two different things. The main difference between washing and detailing is how thorough and in-depth the cleaning is. A car wash is a surface cleaning meant to keep environmental debris from harming your car. An auto detail is a thorough service, deep cleaning that extends the life and sometimes rejuvenates your exterior and some interior components of your car.

Truthfully, both services should be part of your overall car maintenance program. If you start washing your new car every two weeks and get it professionally detailed at least once a year, you're going to significantly extend its retail value.

If you are reading this and thinking, well my car just didn’t roll off the dealership lot or I haven’t kept up on maintaining the exterior or interior like maybe I should, no problem. There is no better time than now to start. Have your car professionally detailed now, hit the reset button and start over.

Your interior is just as important as your exterior with maintaining and protecting. When was the last time your leather seats had a leather conditioner applied? Did you know this should be done at least every 6 months. Or when was the last time your fabric seats were shampooed or your carpets? We offer a ceramic coating that is warrantied for 5 years to protect your leather and will soon be offering fabric protection too.

My recommendation to you is that once a year you have our Full Interior detail completed for the interior. The exterior there are a few options available to you. I recommend our 1-year Ceramic Coating. This gives your car a full year of protection. If you choose our Wash and Wax, or Paint Enhancement you are looking at approximately 6 months of protection being applied, so you would need a second detail during the year. If you choose our multi-year Ceramic Coatings, you will get years of protec

tion when maintained properly. With our 1-year Ceramic Coating all you need to do is wash your car regularly and your exterior is protected while making it quicker and easier to wash, this is why I recommend this detail.

I have been asked, does a drive-thru car wash count for washing my car? Yes, it will serve the purpose of washing, but not as a detail. With our 1-year Ceramic Coating, you can take your car through the car wash. There is some risk involved with going through the car wash though. Every time you go through, you are exposing your exterior paint to having scratches and swirls put into the paint from the rotating brushes. This could cause your paint to look dull after time.

We offer maintenance washes that can be scheduled bi-weekly and monthly if you are concerned about the possible risk with using a car wash or just don’t have the time to wash your car yourself. Just contact us for further details on this service.

My goal with these little blogs is to help educate and protect your investment. I know you care about your vehicle.
